Pastel Pink Hair

Hello Everyone!

I've got a confession to make...

As I'm not really a Winter-gal, I spend most of January/February dreaming of spring, (aka the season of pastels, rose gold, flowers and sunshine).

Whenever I get like this, I like to turn to Pinterest, make a new pin board and get pinning, so that's just what I did!

I came across several pictures of pastel-coloured hair and whilst I gazed longingly at images of delicate pastel curls, it suddenly dawned on me:

I am a hairdresser...

I have blonde hair...

I could make my hair pastel coloured if I wanted...

And quicker than you can say 'candy-floss-pink', I was purchasing the products!

For the Readers that are Hairdressers

To achieve this colour, I used Wella Koleston Perfect- 10/0 and Wella Mix Tone- 0/65
I mixed 60ml 10/0 and 5cm 0/65 with 60ml 6% peroxide.

I applied the mixture onto my hair which was a base 10 previously (lightened with bleach).
My natural hair is a base 6.

I left the mixture on for 35 minutes (no heat) and voila! This was the result...

For the Readers who are not Hairdressers

To colour/dye hair to a pastel pink (or any colour of pastel), the hair needs to be light to begin with. This could mean naturally blonde or bleached blonde. As a rule of thumb, the lighter the blonde, the more vibrant the pastel.

I would not recommend that you use a box dye but I understand that many people are on a budget and can't afford a trip to the salon, if this is you, I have the perfect alternative.

Bleach London Rose Shampoo

This shampoo is great for maintaining pastel pink hair. It's also fab for gradually building up pink hair. If your hair is already light blonde, I'd highly recommend it. In my experience, the colour lasts for around 4-6 washes before fading but of course, this can vary from person to person.

Question: If you could do ANYTHING with your hair, what would it be?

PS. I'd love for you to follow me, it makes me do this- :D

  1. Your hair is so pretty! I'd love to have pastel coloured hair but unfortunately my office job simply would not allow it! I'm also naturally a really nice brunette, so wouldn't want to ruin that!

    1. Thank you Jodie :) It's always best to stick with your natural colour if you like it anyway, your hair must be super shiny and healthy! xx

  2. Just stumbled across your blog through Bloglovin' but wow, your hair looks incredible! It really does remind me of Spring.
My hair is now a dark burgundy after previously being jet black (box dye, every hairdressers' worst nightmare) so I'm a long way from pastels but I would love to maybe get a balayage to lighten the ends and go for that red/orange/yellow fire hair that's also really popular right now.

  4. Your hair looks so gorgeous! I actually thought the first picture was a 'Pinterest' kind of photo :P Being a hairdresser must make it easier to get the right shade for you. How often do you think you'll have to dye it if you want to keep it like that for a while? :)

    1. Thank you , Julia. Pastel shades are known for fading quickly so I will just use my pink shampoo until I get bored of pink hair and then when I stop using it, the colour will fade quite quickly and easily :)

  20. I would love to try pink hair but my hair is too dark and I won't bleach. The only thing is I have a lot of white hair (too much for my age...)so maybe in a few years when it's out of style I would be able to dye it pink lol
